Eleanor Elaine Reed, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022, at Valley View Care Center in Greene. She was born January 14, 1926, in Greene, daughter to Paul and Ruth (Kingery) Flora. She attended Greene Community High School before marrying Donald Reed of Greene on September 5, 1941. They traveled to California for two years prior to returning to Greene for the duration of their lives. Eleanor was a supportive wife, working side-by-side with Don in his body shop for 40 years prior to his death in 1983. Family was always important to her as she took care of her aging parents for the next 19 years. She enjoyed spending time with her many grandkids, great grandkids and great- great grandkids, especially during the holidays. Eleanor also volunteered at the Greene nutrition site for several years, operated a furniture upholstery business, and enjoyed creating various craft projects.
Eleanor is survived by her sister, Evelyn Straw, daughter Donna (Dennis) Wunsch of Greene, sons Gary (Debra) Reed of Arkansas and Steven (Donice) Reed of Arizona, twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Flora, her sister Norma Flora, a son, James Reed; a daughter, Barbara Botterbrodt; and a grandchild, Brenda Reed.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation preceding at 9:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 312 S. Main Street, Greene, IA 50636. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery following the service.
