Eleanor Francis Hric Sklenka
Eleanor Sklenka, 97 years young, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025. Born on February 6th, 1928, to Frank and Pauline (nee Shock) both deceased. Eleanor grew up to meet Robert T. Sklenka in grade school and married the love of her life on November 20th, 1948. They were married 73 years.
Eleanor was a devoted wife, a wonderful loving mom and grandmother. Her sweet demeanor and loving, shining smile touched everyone she met. Eleanor worked as her children grew up as a librarian at Towslee Elementary School in Brunswick. There she showed children the love of learning in reading, as mom loved to read. She met so many children and their families, that to this day, is lovingly remembered as "sweet Eleanor".
Eleanor's memory will be cherished by her children Renee (Gregory, deceased), Robert D. (Susan), Linda (Paul, deceased) and Rick (Becky). Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Robert T. Sklenka. Siblings are Paulette (deceased), Danielle, Martin (Charleen) and Brian (Jill). Grandchildren are Christina (Daniel), Matthew (Norma) and Patrick (Solmary), Karilyn (Kenneth), Douglas (Ara), Donald (Catherine), Jeniffer (Keane) and Elizabeth (Kier) and Kolleen (Christopher). Great grandchildren are Marren, Dominic, Keane and Michael. Many extended family members are lovingly remembered as well.
The family will welcome guests on 10 a.m. on Monday, November 10th, 2025 at St. Colette's Church at 330 W. 130th Street in Brunswick, Ohio with a Memorial Mass following visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Timothy W. Gareau Officiating. Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to any hospice of your choice.
