April 13, 1943 - December 11, 2025
Eleanor "Sue" Cook Woodham, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at The Haven of Newnan. A woman of sharp intellect, fierce independence, and a pioneering spirit, Sue leaves behind a devotion to her family and a legacy of professional excellence.
Early Life and Education
Born on April 13, 1943, in
Hapeville, Georgia, Sue was the daughter of the late William Cook and Christine Pendergrass Cook. She grew up in Hapeville and remained a proud graduate of Hapeville High School.
A Trailblazing Career
Sue's professional journey in Health Information Management spanned over five decades. She began her career at South Fulton Hospital and held leadership roles at West Georgia Medical Center, Newnan Hospital, and Humana of Daytona, where she served as the Director of Medical Records.
She spent several years working as a consultant. In 1995, Sue founded her own business, Woodham & Associates, Inc. As a determined entrepreneur, she grew the firm into a highly respected consultancy, serving hospitals in over 25 states and Germany. Sue was a dedicated mentor, most notably to her daughter, Christi, with whom she spent many years running the family business.
Life and Passions
Sue called Fayetteville, Georgia, home for many years, where she was active in the community and a long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She eventually followed her heart to the coast, cherishing her time in Ormond by the Sea, Florida. There, she loved living by the beach and sharing her home with family, friends, and her Sea Scape Community. She spent her final six years in
Newnan, Georgia.
An avid NASCAR fan, Sue traveled with her husband, Harvey, to tracks across the U.S. For many years, she and Harvey hosted an annual event at the Atlanta Racetrack, creating lasting memories for family and friends.
Family
Sue cherished her family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Harvey Woodham; and her first husband of 15 years, William "Bill" Douglass, Jr.
Her legacy of love lives on through her daughter, Christi (Brian); her step-children, Angie (Marty) and Terry (Anita); and her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
