Eleanor "Volk" Yager

Eleanor (Volk) Yager, 88, of Rushville, IN passed away August 28, 2025 at Aspen Place in Greensburg, IN.

She was born January 9, 1937 in Decatur County, IN to the late Ambrose and Elizabeth (Wesseler) Volk. Eleanor grew up in Decatur County with her 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She graduated from New Point High School, where she played volleyball, in 1954. After working briefly at Hillenbrand's, she married Alfred Yager on September 7, 1959 and moved to Rush County.

With nine kids and farm life, there was much to keep her busy! During retirement, she enjoyed shopping, donating to various causes, gifting to others, collecting Beanie Babies, making her famous buckeyes, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Eleanor is survived by her kids: David Yager, Nancy (Scott) Newbold, Patty (Jim) Moffett, Sharon (Brad) Pike, Steve Yager, Gary (April) Yager, Linda (Ron) Reed and Kelly Connolly. She was Grandma Yager to 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). She is also survived by three sisters, Bernice Diekhoff, Clara Meyer, Anna (Sam) Milligan; two brothers, Bert (Darlene) Volk and Maurice (Paulette) Volk; and in laws, Joe Stein, Mike Hoover, Alberta Neuman, Esther Nieman and Francis (Kathleen) Yager.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Kenny, and her daughter-in-law, Kim, as well as, sisters Mil Stein and Donna Hoover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, September 2nd at St Mary Catholic Church, Rushville, IN. All are invited to pray the rosary at 3:45 PM with visitation from to 4 to 8 PM Monday, September 1st at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville. Burial will be at Rushville's Calvary Cemetery.
