A. Andrew "Andy" Yager

A. Andrew "Andy" Yager, age 74, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, passed away August 28, 2025 following a brief illness. For 29 years he was the beloved husband of Linda L. Hussey.

Born on April 14, 1951, at Portsmouth Hospital, Andy grew up on Lafayette Road and was a proud graduate of Portsmouth High School (Class of 1969) and Plymouth State. He went on to manage his family's business, Stef's Cabins, a place that held many of his fondest memories. He then was a branch manager for Northeast Federal Credit Union, where he met his future wife, Linda.

Andy was known for his love of storytelling, always having an anecdote to share. A true Portsmouth native, he cherished his hometown and its history. He found great joy in the simple things, whether it was feeding the raccoons, chipmunks, and hawks that visited his Islington Street yard, or simply making lunch for his beloved wife, Linda, after he retired. She was his life, his love, and his constant companion. He was a loving husband and father who will be deeply missed.

Andy is survived by his wife, Linda Hussey; his daughter, Keri, and her husband, Alan Dotson; and his son, Michael Yager, and his husband, John Miller; his three grandchildren, Alan Dotson Jr, Samantha Cloutier and her husband Matthew, and Jessica Dotson; and his great-granddaughter, Winifred Cloutier. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Yager (née Stef), and his father, Arthur L. Yager

SERVICES - A time of Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. To share your memories of Andy, please visit the 'Tribute Wall.'
