This is horrible news. He was such a great coach, had a very very sense of humor and just gave his all to Newmarket Baseball and Track. It will always bother me on some level that we didn't bring him a championship in 1984. It wasn't because of lack of effort, preparedness, or passion on his part. I always enjoyed our talks very much. He was a big part of my baseball life and had a huge role in my cousin Gilbert's running life and success. Godspeed Mr. Damren.

Had the opportunity to compete against Coach Jay and his boys when I was in high school, then got a chance to work with him at Winnacunnet in the early 2000s. Such a great man and coach. He'll be missed.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of my dear coach and friend, Jay Damren. He was like a second dad to me. Cheryl, both my prayers and my husband's prayers are with you and your family. May you find comfort and peace through our Lord Jesus Christ.
With love,
Kathy (neé Dow) and Roberto Del Castillo

My favorite memories are of the whole family sitting around a dining table, at the lake or at 145 Myrtle St. So much talking and so much laughter. Can't believe you are gone. We will miss you cousin.
Cheryl, our thoughts are with you.
