Eleanore Laut Russell, age 63 years, of Union, NJ, passed away at home on October 19, 2025. Born in Summit, NJ on October 13, 1962, she was the daughter of Ruth (Huber) Laut and the late Henry Laut.
Education was an important chapter in Eleanore’s life. She graduated from Summit High School and pursued her passion for learning with a bachelor's degree from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, and later went on to earn her master’s degree from Kean University in New Jersey. Her diligence and ambition laid a strong foundation for her professional success.
She was formerly employed as an accountant, serving various employers, showcasing her expertise and commitment to her work.
Eleanore was renowned not only for her career but also for her vibrant personality. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She particularly cherished her role as a grandmother/nana to her two grandchildren, Logan and Liam.
Throughout her life, Eleanore remained devoted to many interests and hobbies. A passionate animal lover, she had a special affinity for dogs and cherished the companionship they brought. Her enthusiasm for the arts was evident in her love for Broadway shows, where she enjoyed losing herself in the performances. As an avid fan of the New York Jets, Eleanore proudly held season tickets, cheering for her team with unwavering loyalty.
Eleanore also took great joy in cooking, especially old family recipes that reflected her proud German heritage. She embraced her cultural roots through active involvement in the German-American Soccer Club and enjoyed memorable trips to Germany, as well as a family Disney cruise and travels to Mexico. Additionally, she indulged her creative side through scrapbooking, which allowed her to preserve cherished memories.
In her youth, Eleanore was deeply involved in the Meyersville Grange #188, where she served as a member of the junior grange before leading the youth program and later taking on a leadership role for several years. Her community spirit and engagement were hallmarks of her character.
Eleanore is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Julie Russell of Vermont; her mother, Ruth (Huber) Laut of New Jersey; her brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Susan Laut of New Jersey; her niece, Stephanie Laut of Maryland; and her beloved grandchildren, Logan and Liam. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Laut, and her maternal grandparents, Hugo and Erna Huber.
