Elida Terrazas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Sep. 18, 2024.
Elida Vega "Lydia" Terrazas, a woman who embodied love and devoted faith, passed away peacefully at her residence in Odessa, Texas, on September 11, 2024. Born on April 10, 1955, in San Diego, Texas, Lydia's journey through life was one marked by compassion, selflessness, and a spirit that uplifted everyone around her.
Lydia's early years in San Diego laid the foundation for a life characterized by a deep sense of community and a profound connection to her roots. Her transition to Odessa only broadened the scope of her impact, as she brought with her the warmth of her heart and the joy of her presence. Lydia's passing is a poignant reminder of the beauty and grace she effortlessly embodied.
Lydia is lovingly remembered by her cherished daughter, Irma Terrazas; her son, Ramon Terrazas Jr.; and her siblings, who stood by her through thick and thin: Ruben Rene (Rachel) Vega, Ruben Limon, Desi "Lolo" Vega, and Tanis (Mary) Lemon.. Lydia's legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Victoria J. Parker, Ryan E. Parker, Christopher King, and Hayley King, as well as her four step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by her generosity of spirit.
Lydia's life was rich with relationships, yet she also experienced profound loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Encarnacion Vega and Olga H. Tyra, and stepfather, William Tyra. Her brothers, Encarnacion Vega Jr. and Juanito Vega; sister-in-law Shelia Limon; sisters, Nelda L. Romero and Dalatia Limon; and her granddaughter, Destiny A. Parker, have all passed before her, as did her beloved dog, Cowboy, who was a source of joy and comfort to her.
Lydia's passions painted a picture of a woman deeply connected to the earth and her faith. Her garden was a testament to her love for nurturing life, whether it was the vibrant flowers that bloomed under her care or the vegetables that she joyously harvested. Music was another source of solace and celebration for Lydia, as she found great pleasure in the melodies of Gospel, Country, and Tejano tunes.
A woman of profound faith, Lydia found strength and guidance in the words of her Bible, which was a well-thumbed testament to her commitment to her beliefs. She shared her love for baking and cooking with everyone, often expressing her affection through the delicious meals and treats she prepared with such care.
Lydia's love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her dedication to the younger generation extended beyond her family, as evidenced by her many years of voluntary service at local schools. Lydia also had a unique and delightful hobby of showing chickens at the fair, a testament to her diverse interests and her connection to her community.
Elida Vega "Lydia" Terrazas was a woman who truly left an memorable mark on the world. Her loving nature, selfless acts, and faith-filled life were sources of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. To speak of Lydia is to speak of a life well-lived, a journey marked by kindness, and a legacy that will continue to resonate through the lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to Lydia, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the memories we hold dear. Her impact was profound, her love unconditional, and her memory eternal. Elida Vega "Lydia" Terrazas, a guiding light in so many lives, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
"Forever thankful,
Lolo, Ruben, Carol, Norma, Adela, Bertha, Tanya, Irma Terrazas, and Ramon Terrazas Jr."
