Elijah Andrew Josiah Espy

Elijah Andrew Josiah Espy, age 15, of Summerville, GA, was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Elijah was born in Rome, GA on February 15, 2010, son of Mr. Kevin Espy and Ms. Lorrie Costlow Espy. He was preceded in death by 2 grandfathers, Richard Ladele Costlow and Glenn "Jr" Payton. Elijah was a student at Armuchee High School. He excelled in his classes, maintaining straight A's throughout his school career. Elijah was a friend to all, making sure everyone felt welcomed and loved when they were around him. Outside of the classroom, he enjoyed playing PlayStation, basketball, and riding dirt bikes with his friends and anything that involved being outdoors. Elijah was a member of Subligna Baptist Church but more importantly, a faithful follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A country boy through and through, Elijah loved being outdoors in the mud and dirt. A competitive dirt bike racer, he excelled on the track doing what he loved most. When he wasn't racing, he could be found working on his dirt bikes. He enjoyed every aspect of the sport and was always furthering his knowledge of his machines. Elijah liked hunting and fishing, anything that took him out in God's creation. He was a smart, respectful and kind young man who always did what he was told and worked his hardest in school so he could play harder when he was out. A shining light here on this Earth, this world needs more young men like Elijah. While he left us too soon, his legacy will live on, and we know he is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus for eternity.
Survivors include his parents, Kevin Espy (Brittany Underwood), Summerville, and Lorrie Espy (Jeff Freeman), Rome; his sister, Isabelle Payton Rose "Izzy" Espy (Richard "Dustin" Bath); his grandparents, Judy & Gene Cowart, Jr, and Greg & Rose Espy; an aunt and 2 uncles, Kasey Espy, Jason Costlow (Stephanie), and Joseph Costlow; cousins and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of Life will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. Rev. Charles Bishop will officiate the service.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday for 2pm until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers are to assemble by 5:30 pm on Tuesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, and include: Trent Dawson, Tristan Dawson, Bayland Hall, Jackson Burns, Jax LaFountain, Cole Davis, Lucas Payton, Dustin Bath, Damon Costlow, Blane Carpenter, and Dawson Thomason.
