Elisabeth Beard Obituary

Obituary of Elisabeth M. Beard
Elisabeth M. Beard entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 3, 2023. A private graveside funeral service will take place at Andersonville National Cemetery, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 12 PM, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 32 years, Jeff C. Beard who passed in 1988.
Elisabeth was born November 13, 1930 in Duisburg, Germany to the late Mr. Vinzenz Paul Wrobel and Mrs. Martha Misiaczyk. She was preceded in death by two brothers. She was a survivor of World War II. As a young adult, she moved to England to become an au pair where she learned the English language.
After returning to Germany, she met her husband who was serving in the United States Army. Together, they moved back to the United States where she became a naturalized US citizen in 1958. She was a devoted military wife.
Elisabeth never drove a car until her husband was serving in the Vietnam War. She stayed home alone with her children in the US, which she now claimed as home. With determination, she learned to drive a car at the age of 38 because she had to provide transportation for herself and her family. She loved driving and proudly maintained this accomplishment until her death.
Elisabeth loved cooking and caring for her plants. This brought her much joy as she grew into her elder years. She always maintained a love of her native Germany and continued friendships with many who shared her past culture. She especially had a fondness for the chocolates and licorice which she made sure her children enjoyed as a "special treat".
She had a servant's heart and enjoyed cooking for her family and children. She cherished each and every one of her children and they will miss her dearly. She lived through many struggles but maintained her determination to live her best life; which she passed along to her children and grandchildren. She never passed judgment upon anyone she met. She left an endearing memory amongst all who knew her.
She is survived by her 5 children: Marilyn (William) Whitworth, Michael (Susie) Beard, Malcom Beard, Jeff Beard and Patricia (Gene) Clance; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Please sign the online guest registry book and leave a personal condolence for the family.
