Melva Beard

Melva Beard of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Wilbur Wethington and Bea Stayton Wethington, was born November 17, 1936 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 7:50 A.M., Saturday, February 21, 2026 in Campbellsville. Age: 89

Melva had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.

She united in marriage to J.T. Beard December 6, 1957 and he preceded her in death July 20, 2019.

Melva loved tending her garden and always had a yard full of flowers and plants. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and quilting, and she was a member of the Taylor County Extension Homemakers Club.

She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Janie Beard Hlavinka and husband, Brian of East Bernard, Texas, Scott Beard and wife, Gayle of Campbellsville, and Jeff Beard of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren: Amanda Beard of Campbellsville, Blair Burress and husband, Riley of Campbellsville, Shelby Beard of Palm Coast, Florida, Nathan Hlavinka and wife, Mary Kate of Bury St. Edwards, England, Andrew Hlavinka and wife, Mallory of Hockley, Texas, Joshua Hlavinka and wife, Megan of East Bernard, Texas, and Ethan Hlavinka and wife, Raegan of Fulshear, Texas; eight great-grandchildren: Aiden Zuniga, Layla Zuniga, Boe Burress, Jason Burress, Aleah Burress, Henry Hlavinka, Charlotte Hlavinka, and Katherine Hlavinka; and many other relatives and friends.

Melva was preceded in death by a son, Bernie Beard, and a sister, Martha McCubbin.The family would like to express their appreciation to Melva’s caregivers, Pam Parker, Donna Belcher, and Robin Gabehart during her time of need. _______________
