Sandra Sue "Chappell" Ayers

Mrs. Sandra Sue (Chappell) Ayers of Elk Horn, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed from this life on Monday, February 16, 2026 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Veldon and Hazel Lorraine (Cauble) Chappell and was 79 years of age at the time of her passing. She was a former municipal employee, having worked for the the City of Indianapolis, the State of Indiana, and the United States Postal Service. She was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church and was the devoted wife of Mr. Jeffrey Ayers, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2023.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son: Kenneth Warren, and a former son-in-law: Richard Wilson.

Mrs. Ayers leaves to mourn her passing: a daughter: Kathryn Jo Ayers,

Two siblings: Marilyn Jackson and Linda Powell,

Four grandchildren: Brandy Cooper and husband Brandon, Meagan Cox, Cody Borders, and Nikki Wilson,

Six great-grandchildren: Nastaja Cooper, Zeliah Cooper, Brandon Cooper, Jr., L.J. Martin, Alyianna Buntain, and Ava Buntain,

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ayers had chosen cremation. She will be interred beside her late husband in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana at a later date.
