Beth was born February 7, 1963 in Geisinger Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania and lived in Sunbury, PA, during her early years. She graduated from Shikellamy High School in 1981 and remained close to a number of classmates.  During her high school years, Beth participated in local horse competitions before enrolling at West Virginia Wesleyan College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Physics in 1985.  At West Virginia Wesleyan, she was on the intercollegiate writing team, an officer in the engineering physics club and held internships at the National Radiation Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN.  She again had many friends and remained close to them thru the years. During college, she spent her summers in Delaware and was a beloved employee of the Crab Barn and her dedicated circle of friends.  After college, Beth moved to Concord, NC, where she worked at Mallard Creek Polymers for nearly 37 years. Beth held many positions at the company, starting as a chemist in the lab.  She continued her education and received a second Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Strayer University, after which she became the Senior Accountant for Mallard Creek.  Beth was very dedicated to Mallard Creek and was very respected and a dear friend to many employees.  While living in Concord, Beth was devoted to her beloved sheltie dogs and was a member of the Greater Charlotte Shetland Sheepdog Club, where she competed and won a number of ribbons, as well as served as treasurer and secretary of the Cabarrus Kennel Club.

Beth will be greatly missed by her entire family including her sister, Janna Longacre and her husband Joe Upham of Brookline, MA, and their children Thea of Providence, RI, and Paul and his wife Jessica Emilfarb and son Julian and daughter Lottie of Portland, ME, and her brother Richard (Rik) Longacre, Jr. and his wife Ellyn of Glenwood Springs, CO, and their sons Simon and his wife Barbara and sons Hayden and Cooper of Glenwood Springs and Connor of Denver, CO, along with other extended family in Pennsylvania and Florida.

Services will be held at Saint Monica’s Church in Sunbury, PA, and will be announced at a later date.  Beth will be interned with her parents at Pomfret Manor Cemetery in Sunbury, PA.

A FALLEN LIMB

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says,

“Grieve not for me. “

Remember the best times,

the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived

while I was strong.

Continue my heritage,

I’m counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely

the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease,

my soul is at rest.

Remembering all,

how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions,

no matter how small.

Go on with your life,

don’t worry about falls.

I miss you all dearly,

so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes we’re together again”
