Elizabeth Cupp Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Jane Cupp, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Hartford City on April 21, 1936 to Jessie Lee Johnson and Hazel Lindsay (Hart) Johnson. Both her parents preceded her in death.

Liz graduated from Roll High School in 1954. She married John Riley Cupp in 1977. He passed away on March 12, 1988.

She retired from GM in Marion after 20 years and was a member of the UAW Local.

Liz loved sewing and making quilts. There was not much she could not do. She remodeled her kitchen herself and hung wallpaper. She was very handy. She enjoyed bowling. She loved to help others and was very active with The Salvation Army and ringing the bells and spreading holiday cheer as she was collecting donations during the holidays. She also enjoyed organizing the tree of names for the kids. She enjoyed camping and loved the movies. She was a huge fan of westerns and never passed the western channel when watching tv. She loved organizing the family reunions which were held twice each year and she was very generous to her family and being with them was the hi-light of her days.

She was an animal lover and is survived by her fur babies, Porky, Dobby and Hermione.

Liz will be sadly missed by her children, Kathy J. Cox of Marion, Michael W. (wife, Teri) McCoin of Hartford City, Pam F. (husband, Chris) Hogan of Rockingham, NC and Jeff C. 9wife, Teresa) Bookout of Lancaster, IN; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings, James D. Johnson, Thomas "Butch" Johnson, Virgil Lee Johnson, Harry R. Johnson, Frederick "Fred" H. Johnson, George W. Johnson, Betty Michael, Carrie Ann Johnson and Harriet Bragg.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 PM Tuesday, October 7, 2025 and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Keplinger Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.keplingerfuneralhome.com or utilize our Keplinger Funeral Home Facebook page.
