There are moments where the heart aches, where the outside chaos doesn't matter, and where loss creates a void that everyone experiences. On February 25, 2026, we felt that void as we said goodbye to our beautiful mother, Elizabeth Blume Dawson. Born on December 7, 1940, she brought a light into this world that will never truly go out.
A proud FSU graduate and dedicated elementary school teacher in Orlando, Elizabeth's greatest legacy was always her family. She and her late husband, William L. Dawson Sr., married in 1964 and anchored our lives with immense love. She raised her children with endless grace, and the profoundly meaningful courage she showed over the final four years of her life remains a testament to her unwavering spirit.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, James Victor and Louise Blume; her brother, Charles; and her devoted husband, William (2023).
Her radiant memory lives on in her daughter, Jessica Dawson; her son, William Lee Dawson Jr. and his wife, Kim; her cherished grandchildren, Lee and Katie; her sisters, Madeline and Maryann; and her brother, James.
While the heaviness of this loss is profound, we are reminded of the incredible gift it was to be her children. Thank you, Mom, for everything. We will love and miss you forever.
