Elizabeth L. Finizio, known affectionately as Liz to all who were lucky enough to know her, passed away suddenly on December 23, 2023, in Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida. Born on March 15, 1940, in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Silvio Pellegrini, Sr. and Lucy DiMartino Pellegrini, Liz spent her life as a beacon of love and generosity.
Liz is preceded in death by her devoted spouse, Raymond J. Finizio, and her parents, Silvio Pellegrini, Sr. and Lucy DiMartino Pellegrini. She leaves behind a legacy through her children, Mark J. Finizio, Sr. (Elizabeth Walker Finizio), Lisa Finizio, and David J. Finizio (Kathy); her adored grandchildren, Kimberly Tole (Jim Tole), Mark J. Finizio, Jr., Santino Finizio, Jamie Sickles, Domenico Pleskonko, Leah Pleskonko, Samantha Finizio, and Nicolas Finizio; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kelsea, Taylor, and James Tole. She is lovingly survived by some of her lifelong friends - Roseanne Cicalese, Laura Poplaski, Rosemarie and Joe Lamalfa and her former daughter in law Karen Pye and her husband Don. Liz is predeceased by her siblings, Theresa Tornetta and Silvio Pellegrini, Jr. Her love also extended to her 4 kitty-cats, Velvet, Vinny, Stormy, and Willow, who brought her so much joy and companionship every day of her life in Florida. She will surely be missed by all.
In addition to being a great mom, Liz co-owned a series of successful family restaurants with her husband and children including Finizio's Italian Deli and Pizzeria, Victor's Supper Club, Santino's Pizza and Pasta, and Finizio's Italian Eateries located in new Jersey and Pennsylvania. Her caring nature extended to her integral role in the family restaurants as Liz ran the dining room operations on a daily basis with the same care with which she ran her own household. She was an awesome role model for all of the people who had the good fortune to work with her. Liz was more than just a business owner; she was the heart and soul of the dining room, ensuring that every guest felt like a part of the family.
Liz was a phenomenal wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmom, aunt and friend to all. She made everyone feel welcome - usually by making the best Italian food you have ever tasted. She was a natural caregiver and was the first to lend a helping hand with whatever was needed. Liz loved going on cruises and traveling with her kids and grandkids all around the world. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter Lisa and good friend Roseanne attempting to win jackpots at the casino as they made their weekly contribution to the casino industry. After her retirement to
Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2008 she would work part time at the Finizio Law Group doing some office work helping to keep things organized. She became known and loved as "Mama Liz" to the law firm staff, touching even more lives during her time at the firm.
Liz never sat still, often jumping up to take care of something as soon as she sat down. We will miss her fiercely but know she is resting easy with the love of her life, Ray Finizio.
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." This sentiment encapsulates how Liz lived life. Her selflessness knew no bounds, always the first to lend a hand, offer a meal, or provide a listening ear.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for her viewing on Friday January 5 from 9:30-11am at the Bradley Funeral Home 601 Rt. 73 South at Evesham Rd. Marlton NJ where a Funeral Service will be held at 11am. Interment to follow at the Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Twp, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Liz's memory to your choice of local animal shelter, rescue or humane society.
