ELIZABETH ANN (CHAPMAN) GOSLANT

Elizabeth ("Betty") Ann Goslant, 91, of Middlesex, passed away on July 27, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on April 20, 1934, in Rutland, Vermont, to the late Walter Chapman and Alice (Higgins) Chapman. Throughout her 91 years, Betty resided in Rutland, Leicester, Waterbury and most recently Middlesex, Vermont.

Betty was previously married to the late Darrell Sprague of Leicester, Vermont, for 25 years and together they had 4 children – the late Kevin Sprague, Carmen Morgan, Pam Mack and Jeffrey Sprague and his wife, Jackie. She also had 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her parents as well as her son, Kevin, her brothers Walter Chapman, Jr., and David Chapman and two sisters, Marjorie Gilbert and Patty Damon.

In 1982, Betty remarried the late Russell A. Goslant of Plainfield and they were married for 38 years. Betty is survived by 4 stepsons – Kent Goslant and his wife, Cheryl; Keith Goslant; Kim Goslant and his wife, Carol and Kevin Goslant.

Betty was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church (Waterbury); Grace United Methodist Church (Plainfield); American Legion Auxillary; General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; and the Busy Bees Christmas Club. Our mom was an excellent seamstress and helped family, friends and acquaintances over the years on many sewing projects including wedding dresses, quilts, etc. She also enjoyed crafts and loved doing her diamond paintings. Our mom was also an avid Red Sox fan and spent many Friday nights playing Yahtzee with her family.

In her early years, our mom worked as a homemaker while raising her 4 children. Betty also babysat for many local families in her early years. Betty eventually started work at Vincent's Pharmacy and worked there until it was purchased by Kinney's Pharmacy and continued to work for Kinneys Pharmacy well into her 80's as she enjoyed seeing the customers and enjoyed her many co-workers over the years.

Mom was happy being home and having friends and family stop by to visit. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much and enjoyed hosting all family holidays at her house.

Mom, we will miss you and love you so much. We could not have asked for a better mother as you were the BEST.

Please join us for a celebration of life for our mom on Saturday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Main Street, Waterbury, VT 05676. There will be a small reception following the service downstairs in the church. A private burial will be held for family at a later date at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Randolph, VT where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Russell.

Betty was the one lady in Waterbury that could always make you smile! I am sad that she has passed but I know that surely she is in Heaven today with Jesus and the angels, because she truly was one. My sincere condolences to Carmen and all of Betty's lovely family.
Hugs, Sue Plant
