Yachats resident, Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Reed Groth, 78, passed away from small intestine complications, Friday December 26, 2025 at the Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Oregon.

Betty was born May 29, 1947 to David E. & Susan "Sujane" Janette (Crowder) Reed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She married Don Robert Groth on Saturday, June 13th, 1970 at the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had moved to Houston, Texas in 1973 where she began working at Conoco Phillips until retiring in January of 2001. While in The Woodlands, Texas she was a Youth Group Leader. Betty & Don moved to Portland, OR in June of 2001. She continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science, Magna cum laude from Portland State University in 2004. They then moved to Yachats, OR in 2008 and she was Clerk of Session and an elder at the Waldport Community Presbyterian Church. She also cooked in the Community Kitchen and taught youth and adult classes there. Then she moved to the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, volunteering in the Food Pantry, serving as Clerk of Session and playing piano. Betty enjoyed piano, choir, baking and genealogy.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Don Robert Groth of Yachats, OR; daughters and sons in-law, Stephanie Anne & Kirsten Pierce of Milwaukie, OR and Elizabeth Anne & Charles Redon of Salem, OR; grandchildren, Ari Leviathon Pierce of Portland, OR, Shaylon Mackenzie Hawkins of Eugene, OR and Bennett Charles Redon of Salem, OR; sister, Barbara Murphy of Largo, FL; brother, David E. Reed of Tonto Basin, AZ; nephews, Mark Vaughan of Madeira Beach, FL, Robert Vaughan of Seminole, FL and Jason Reed of El Paso, TX; and niece Sandy Star of Tonto Basin, AZ.

A Celebration of Betty's life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, 360 W 7th St, Yachats, OR 97498. She was laid to rest at the Yachats Memorial Park.
