Elizabeth Hurley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bacon Funeral Home on Oct. 28, 2025.
Elizabeth (Libby) Anne Hurley, 72, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at Nashoba Park assisted living in Ayer, Massachusetts, just one week after moving there to be near family.
Libby was born to James and Wanda (Kosinski) Hurley in Hartford, Connecticut, but lived most of her life in Altamont, New York. After receiving a bachelor's degree in art history from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs–where she made several lifelong friends–Libby worked as a mortgage counselor at Albany Savings Bank and then for the U.S. Postal Service.
Libby was a kind and generous friend, sister, and aunt who could carry on a lively conversation on almost any topic, especially if it involved opera, ballet, art, home furnishings, classic films, or bicycle racing. She had a flair for drawing, cooking, and knitting and never met a book or cookbook that didn't hold some interest for her. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling and visiting museums, botanical gardens, and art galleries. Her love and care for cats in need was prodigious, and she was a cat owner from the time she was in middle school until her death. Throughout her life, she retained a talent for seeing the best in others and doted on her beloved niece and nephews.
Libby was predeceased by her parents and by her sister, Janet Hurley. She is survived by her sister, Valerie Hurley; her brother-in-law, Michael Kilian; her niece, Helen; her nephew, Thomas; her nephew, Peter, and his wife, Vanessa; her cousins; and several treasured friends.
A graveside ceremony is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 5, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Road, Willimantic, Connecticut. Arrangements are under the care of Bacon Funeral Home, Willimantic. To send an online expression of sympathy, please visit www.baconfh.com
