Salem - Some people pass through this world quietly. Liz Manser danced, sang, and sparkled her way through 101 years of life - a whirlwind of color, laughter, and love that touched everyone lucky enough to have known her until her passing on Monday October 13, 2025.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on January 4, 1924, Liz was the daughter of Ablen and Anna Mike. As a proud 1942 graduate of East High School, she lettered in swimming, archery, and softball. She met the love of her life, Joseph Stephen Manser II (fondly known as "Manser"), and together they shared fifty-four years of devoted marriage until his passing in 2003.
Liz's life was rich beyond measure - not only in years but in joy, creativity, and devotion. She was mother to Judith (David), Joseph III (Pamela), Michael (Ann), Jeffrey (Tina), Stephen (Marlene), and Elizabeth (Edward); grandmother to twenty-one and great-grandmother to twenty-eight. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brothers Tom, Mike, and Joseph, and sisters Alice, Theresa, and Mary. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Mike.
Known to everyone as "Sitto," Liz and Manser's home on Duck Creek Road was a haven of happiness. Their five acres - complete with a swimming pool - overflowed with family, friends, and merriment. Sitto was the heart of every gathering, the spark behind every celebration.
A true Renaissance woman, Liz was endlessly curious and creative. She could draw anything, sing beautifully, and turn even the simplest moments into something magical. Whether she was riding a horse in her seventies, dressing up for Halloween in her nineties, or stargazing from a golf cart in the early morning hours, Liz lived every day with open arms and a twinkle in her eye.
Liz was an avid card player, a talented pianist, and an excellent cook. She solved puzzles, loved to color, and was a fearless competitor at washers and cards - often declaring victory with her trademark grin. A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns and Guardians, she took their losses in stride, reminding everyone it was "no money out of her pocket."
Tech-savvy and ever-connected, Liz FaceTimed her family at all hours, keeping love and joy alive across generations.
She handled conflict with wisdom, believing you should "speak your peace" and let go of grudges. Her kindness and acceptance made everyone feel valued and included.
Above all, Liz's faith anchored her, and her family was her heartbeat. She prayed daily for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, believing deeply in the power of love and prayer.
Liz was the life of every party and the light that warmed every heart. Her laughter, creativity, and faith will forever shine in the lives of those who loved her.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff and Sisters of Antonine Village for their loving care, with special appreciation to Karlissa, Millie, Addie, and to Crossroads Hospice for their support.
With eternal gratitude, the family wishes to acknowledge the deep love, care, and support shown by her niece and Goddaughter, Marilyn Mastronarde, and her nephew and his wife Charles & Dorothy Simon.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 North Lipkey Road, North Jackson, Ohio, where a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with Fr. Tony Massad as celebrant.
Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Austintown.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi & Santucci 4221 Market St. Boardman.
