Elizabeth Marr Obituary

Elizabeth "Ann" Marr, 87 of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2026.
Ann was born May 5, 1938 in Warrensburg, the daughter of Wallace and Erna (Dallman) Barbee. She graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1956. Her fi rst job was at Mugs Up. One day, a customer vying for her attention gave her a 10 cent tip, and on June 10, 1956 Ann married Robert "Bob" Marr, the big tipper.
Ann had a strong work ethic. She drove a school bus for 46 years, retiring at age 80. She also served as the bookkeeper for the her husband's trucking company, but Ann's most cherished roles were as wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Marr, Steve (Wendy) Marr, and honorary son Chris (Kelly) Sharp; her sister, Edna Hackett; her grandsons, Cory Marr and Brett (Megan) Marr; her granddaughters who carry on her legacy as her namesakes Teea Ann (TJ) Classen and Brittany Elizabeth (Cody) Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Teegan Classen, Staulle Classen, Eleanor Marr, and Wesley Miller.
Known to many as Grandma Ann, she loved caring for and supporting her family. She could be found wherever her family was, whether that was at a sporting event, a dance recital, or church. At church, she was often known to carry bacon in her purse for her grandkids. She was an amazing cook who was quite famous for her fried chicken, Swedish tea rings, and gigantic trays of Christmas candy.
Ann enjoyed sewing, watching Judge Judy, doing puzzles, and bowling. She was a three-time Missouri State Champion Bowler. In recent years, she especially loved watching photos of her great grandchildren scroll on her Skylight Frame and was always excited when new photos appeared.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years Robert "Bob" Marr, her son Robert Marr, Jr., her sisters Martha Larkerbrink and Mary Greenway, and her brother Wallace Barbee.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at First Baptist Church of Warrensburg on Thursday, March 19 at 10:30 am. Internment will follow at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens.
In honor of Ann's numerous years as a school bus driver, memorial contributions may be made to the Warrensburg Schools Foundation in care of the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hoke and his staff for taking such good care of Ann for many years. They would also like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for the phenomenal care provided during Ann's last days. A special thank you goes to hospice aide Crystal and hospice nurses Chelsea, Jessica, and Ashley for their extraordinary compassion and incredible kindness. They provided a tremendous amount of comfort and peace for Ann and her family.
