Elizabeth Harmon McAdams (Lora Elizabeth Harmon McAdams) 83, of Salisbury passed away on August 8, 2025.
She was born March 2, 1942 in Concord, NC to the late James Dolan Harmon and Elise Lorraine Harmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother David Allan Harmon of Virginia.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 62 years William (Bill) Richard McAdams and her daughters Lynell (Lori) McAdams and her husband David W. Turner, and Kimberly Elizabeth McAdams and her husband Jeffrey M. Weaver.
She is also survived by her siblings Mary Alice Anthony of Kentucky, Martha Cothran of Virginia, and Dennis Harmon of Virginia.
In her professional life, Elizabeth was a fine artist, photographer, digital commercial designer and video producer. Her family's home was full of art and creativity as the family lived on multiple military bases during her husband's military service. During Bill's active duty years, her art and professional skills supported multiple Officers' Wives organizations and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and she was an art director for Okinawa Today Magazine. Her later years in Salisbury were focused on her photography and genealogical research.
Elizabeth studied fine art at Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and Advertising Design at Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte N.C.
Her art and photography associations and exhibits have included The Carolina Artists, The Railwalk Studios and Gallery in Salisbury, the Waterworks Visual Arts Center of Salisbury, The Guild of Charlotte Artists of Charlotte, The National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), and The Photography Club of Central Piedmont Community College. She was also an award-winning member and exhibitor at Southern Arts Society in Kings Mountain NC.
Visitation will be 10-11am Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Summersett Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 am in the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gary Willeford officiating. Burial is at 12:30pm at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
