Elizabeth Kay McGee, age 62, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away Thursday evening July 6th, 2023 at Lee Summit Medical Center of lung cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil (Bucky) McGee in Belington, West Virginia, her son Trent Sturguess of Oologah, Oklahoma, her father Bernie King of Brookfield, her step-father Finis Ross, step-brothers David Michael Ross and Gary Ross and grandparents Walter and Betty Hartsock of Green City Mo. She is survived by her son Jason Sturguess, his wife Alisha and their children Neveah and Destiny of Grain Valley, MO and children Coby and Karmen Sturguess of Bucklin, MO. Daughter-in-Law Stacey Sturguess and children Brecken Sturguess and L.T. (Trent) Sturguess of Oologah, Oklahoma. Her mother Nancy Williams of Lee Summit, brother Martin King and his wife Libby of Kansas City, brother David King and sister Michelle (Ross) Bright and her husband Russ of Lee Summit and step-son Shaun McGee of North Carolina; as well as 5 nieces, 4 nephews, 2 great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
Liz was born in Long Beach, CA where she was raised until moving to Missouri. Living most of her life in the Brookfield, MO area and going to school there then working mostly in Brookfield and Marceline area. After marrying Roy Sturguess, they moved to Keytesville, MO after of which Jason and Trent were born. Later she moved to Bates City, Mo. and then to West Virginia upon marrying Bucky McGee. After his passing she moved to Independence, Mo and lived with her son for a year and was employed part time at Price Chopper in Lee's Summit. Once diagnosed with cancer she moved to Lee Summit, MO under her mother's care.
There is no formal funeral service planned for Liz; her cremated remains will be scattered as she requested.
