PASCOAG, RI-Elizabeth Ann O’Connor at 91, beloved sister, aunt, and friend passed away at Bayberry Commons on February 15, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Betty Ann, as she was known to friends and family, was born on March 5, 1931, in Worcester to the late Lawrence J. and Marian (McNamee) Sullivan.  She grew up on Vernon Hill and attended Ascension High School. She went on to Saint Vincent School of Nursing, graduated and received her RN  in 1951. After working at St. Vincent Hospital,  she decided to go to New York and attended Columbia University School of Nursing and received her Bachelor of Science Degree.  She later went on to receive her Master Of Nursing at the University of Connecticut. she worked  the Colombia Presbyterian Hospital, taught nursing in a R.I. hospital, worked at the Red Cross, and end her career worked as a school nurse in Providence, RI.                                                                                                                                                                                                

She loved to travel with her husband to Puerto Rico. She also loved to attend parties with family and friends and always dressed for any occasion. Betty Ann loved hats and usually wore all types , including an Irish Cap that she bought in Ireland.  She is remembered for her happy, smiling face and for her genuine, loving attitude toward her friends, family, patients and co-workers. Betty Ann also loved animals. She had many dogs and cats over the years. One of her favorites was their dog, Sean,  a Collie who looked just like, “Lassie”.

Her husband of 36 years, Laurence O’Connor died in 1989. She is survived by her brother, Robert Sullivan, of Sterling, MA,  his wife,  Jane,  and  her sister,  Mary Lou Mack,  of Dennis, MA; nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Three siblings, Patricia, Thomas and Lawrence Sullivan, predeceased her.

Burial will be private in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A Memorial Mass will be arranged for later in the Spring. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements in the care of Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester.
