Upton – Elizabeth S. 'Beth' (Stone) O’Mara, formerly of Newton and Waltham, died in the comfort of her home on Saturday, September 6, 2025 with her husband at her side. She was 73.
Elizabeth S. Stone was born July 20, 1952 in Newton a daughter of Malcolm Stone and the late Judith (Cockrill) Stone. Raised and educated in Newton she was a graduate of Newton High School. She married Waltham native John E. O’Mara on March 22, 1997 and they made Upton their home for the last 35 years.
Beth worked as administrative assistant for many years at G.Z.A. Environmental in Newton and later at Imperial Cars in Mendon.
She adored her feline friends, Louis and Spunky and her many friendships as well as regular bingo games at the Upton Senior Center.
Beth was predeceased by her mother, Judith Stone; brothers, Michael Stone and Joel Collon; in-laws, Thomas and Jacqueline (Demoy) O’Mara, Mark LeBlanc and Michael O’Mara.
In addition to her husband of 28 years, John, she leaves her father, Malcolm Stone of Chester, New Hampshire; siblings, Diane Stone (David Swanton) of Hampstead, New Hampshire, Barbara Stone (Robert Schaeffer) of Fairfield, Vermont, Christopher Stone of Chester, New Hampshire and Daniel Stone (Susan) of Millis; in-laws, Karen LeBlanc of Watertown, Kevin O’Mara (Helen Kennedy) of Marlborough, Stephen O’Mara of Upton and Richard O’Mara (Michelle) of Framingham; also survived by nieces & nephews and a lot of wonderful friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Beth‘s life by gathering for an Afternoon Wake in the Joyce Funeral Home 245 Main St., Waltham on Saturday, September 13th from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a Life Celebration Service at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
