Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Parrish

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Parrish, age 89, of Glen Mills, PA., formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on October 16, 2022.

She was born and raised in Alexandria, VA and was the daughter of the late Lilian and James Ballard. Liz graduated from George Washington HS, Alexandria in 1950. Shortly thereafter she married the love of her life, William Parrish, a career Navy man.

Along with raising the family and the many moves of a military family, Liz volunteered for many organizations. This included 32 years at Hagley Museum and Library and the RSVP Project making cold weather clothing for the under privileged of New Castle County. She enjoyed dancing, camping all over the country, sewing, crochet, cross stitching and knitting and quite the baker.

Her husband William of 64 years, died in 2017. She is survived by 3 children, Bruce (Gale), Mark (Carol) and Suzanne Bowden (Rodney); 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Emery (Daniel), William (Carly), Stephanie McCready (Ray), Sean McCready, Sean Ray, Brandon Bowden (Catherine) and Theresa Grabowski; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaylee & Kody Emery and Gabriella & Christopher Grabowski; and a brother Joseph Ballard. Liz is also preceded in death by her sister, Ida McCracken.

A viewing will be held on Monday, October 24 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, from 11:30am-12:30pm followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
