I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my beloved cousin Betty. To all who knew her, she was a beacon of joy and faith. Her dedication to the Sisters of Mercy and her service at the Nazareth Home for Boys left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Betty's beautiful smile, kind words, and humble attitude will be greatly missed. Her optimistic outlook and caring demeanor brought comfort to many, including myself in my time of need. Her thoughtful prayers and helpful advice were a source of strength. Although we seldom communicated, the times that we did were truly a blessing.
Heaven is indeed sweeter with one more angel. Betty will be deeply missed by her family, friends, community, and church. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. I love you, Betty. May you rest in peace.

Betty was my sister and my senior by 12 years and, in part because of that age gap, I didn´t always understand what motivated her life and her choices. As I grew older and we grew closer I came to appreciate a quality that she showed throughout her life...her courage. It was courageous to leave her home and the world of friends and dating within 2 months of high school graduation to join the Sisters of Mercy in which she gave unstintingly of herself for 12 years. And then brave to leave that life when she could no longer devote herself to it. She left the convent without money and few marketable skills with which to re-enter the secular world and made her way in it slowly, challenging herself to take on new things. When she joined the police in Worcester as an investigator in the juvenile division, she took it upon herself to buck the prevailing order and lobby for equal training for women officers on the force and become the first female union rep. I think it was courageous to leave that life that she had built and marry Ernie Persechino, a widower, and try to fit into a family with 3 near-adult children. Later, after their move to Cocoa Beach, she cared for her husband during his illnesses with constancy and strength. In her own health challenges, she faced each day with an optimism likely born of faith and hope. It was my privilege to spend time with her the last several years to learn more about her life and witness the deep affection she had for her dear friend, Sarah Travelute, whose devotion made Betty´s last years happy ones. Rest in peace, my sister.

Betty, I was blessed not only to be your cousin, but your friend. I will miss all our phone calls, short and long, our visits. Your faith was special and I loved sharing that with you. Love you, rest in peace.

I met Betty as a neighbor. I loved visiting her to hear her life story, it was so interesting. I told her she could write a book. She was truly a blessing to have met.
