Mona Bennett passed away on Thursday evening, the 21st of August, at Chateau Madeleine, Melbourne, Florida surrounded by her children.

She was born in 1932 at Lenoir City, Tennessee, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hull and Ruby Adeline (Butts) Hull. At the age of five, Mona's parents moved the family to High Point, North Carolina. She graduated from High Point High School and then married Rodney Douglas Bennett in June of 1951.

While Rod was serving as a US Army paratrooper stationed at Ft. Campbell and then Korea, she moved to Washington DC and worked as a secretary for a marine colonel at the Navy Annex. After Rod completed his service in the Korean War, he and Mona resided in the Greensboro-Highpoint area, where she worked for Western Electric. The family moved to Orlando, Florida in 1958 and she went to work for the Martin Marietta Corp.

She and Rod lived in Orlando, Cocoa Beach, and Jacksonville through the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1974 Mona and Rod moved to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. They spent over a decade living in the Emirates and then Saudi Arabia, where Rod and Mona both worked for ARAMCO. Returning to the States in 1985, Mona and Rod resided in Pittsburg, San Francisco and Houston before retiring to Leesburg, Florida and then to Melbourne. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s they traveled the world, to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia on various business trips and vacations.

Mona was proud of her Hull family heritage, which included her cousin Cordell Hull who served as Secretary of State during World War II; and her great grandfather Michael McKinney, one of the founders of the town of Blue Ridge, Georgia.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Rod, her parents and sister Marie, and is survived by her three children Dennis Bennett (Tawana) of Birmingham AL, Donna Prisley (Fred) of Tampa FL and DeeAnne Bennett of Cocoa Beach FL, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Rod and Mona will be inurned together at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers Mona can be honored by a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause she supported for many years.
