Elizabeth Lavonda Phillips

Elizabeth “Lavonda” Phillips ascended into the waiting arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 14th, 2024. Her Husband Bill Phillips and her father and mother, Hoyt and Nellie Cross, whom she loved dearly, and sister Patsy Rymer also met her at heaven’s gate. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

Preceding her was husband, of 53 years, Bill Phillips, parents Hoyt and Nellie Cross, in laws, Carl and Ruth Phillips, her sister Patsy Rymer, four of her best friends William and Dot Cartwright, many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her pastor Earl Gentry.

Lavonda is survived by her seven children, Devonia and Garry Everett, William “Bill” Phillips Jr., Pam and William Aaron, Connie Hagood, Wayne Phillips, Donna and Rick Terrell, Tina and Jeff Couch. She is survived by her grandchildren, Adam, Carl, Matt, Dustin Swilling, Kenny Phillips, Tona Spence, Cody Reagan, Anthony and Nicole Phillips, Cameron and Allison Terrell, Scotty Couch. Lavonda was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her brother Billy and Rosie Cross and Sister Jean Cartwright, several nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members, two that she thought of as her own, Sandra Hawkins and Wilma Daily. Also, the best neighbor for over fifty years, Gladys and Clyde Floyd and many other family members, too numerous to count.

Lavonda started singing as a child in her father’s church and taught her own children to sing in church. She sewed and made her five daughters’ clothes as well as worked for a number of years by her husband’s side in their upholstery shop. She also worked a public job as a seamstress. She was a unique lady, always there for her children no matter what. She will be greatly missed by her family and a great number of others.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 21st, at Poole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Ingram and Scotty Couch officiating. Burial will follow at Hilcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 20th, at Poole Funeral Home from 6-9:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be, Adam Swillling, Carl Swilling, Matt Swilling, Scotty Couch, Cameron Terrell, John Spence. Honorary pallbearer, Dustin Swilling.
