Elizabeth "Liz" (nee Piccirilli/formerlyAngelini) Ravilious, aged 95, passed away in hospice care on March 24th. She was born on 7/16/1929 in Wilmington, raised in Vineland, NJ until her family returned to Wilmington. Liz is predeceased by her parents, Carmela and Samuel Piccirilli; her husband, Dominick "Duke", of 24 years; her husband, Paul, of 45 years; sister, Lena Zambeno; brother, John Piccirilli; brother, Carmen Piccirilli; and niece Josphine Ferrante.
As a young woman, Liz worked at NVF Corporation as a telephone operator and Colonial National Bank as a teller. After marrying Duke, she continued to work until her daughter, Sara Ann, was born. Then Liz became a loving and caring mother who welcomed many family members and friends into their home. She volunteered to chaperone Sara Ann's field trips and was always homeroom mother. After Duke's death, Liz worked in the business office at Colonial Chevrolet. Four years later, she married Paul and they opened "Liz's Bargain Shop" on Route 13, Townsend, DE and purchased several houses to rent. Their next endeavor was building Odessa Packaging Services, where Paul built and repaired pharmaceutical packaging equipment and Liz supervised the office until they retired and sold their business. After living in North Wilmington, Odessa, Smyrna, and Ocean View, they moved to Keenwick-on-the-Bay, Fenwick Island, where they enjoyed boating, entertaining, and volunteering. Liz was treasurer and a very active member for the Women's Club of the Keenwiks. She always enjoyed playing cards but then began playing Bridge once or twice a week (which lasted 5 hours, including lunch). Liz really enjoyed having family holiday dinners at their home. She had many great neighbors and friends who cherished her friendship and the feeling was mutual. Liz never looked her age, always having her hair and nails done to perfection and was the best-dressed woman in any gathering. In the last two years, she suffered several medical setbacks and somehow found the strength to recover each time to the amazement of everyone.
Liz will be greatly missed by daughter and son-in-law, Sara Ann and Michael Schiavoni; stepson, Ron Ravilious (Debbie); stepson, Carl Ravilious (Patti); and stepdaughter, Carol Duncan; grandchildren, Lynn Schiavoni (Nate), Dominick Schiavoni (Lee), Michael Schiavoni (Claire), Jason Duncan (Ana), Andy Duncan (Courtney); great-grandchildren, Claudia and Vienna Small, Sophie and Leo Schiavoni, Maddox and Scarlett Duncan, and Benjamin Duncan.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Millcroft Assisted Living and Accent Care Hospice for their care.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 from 9:30-11:00 am. Words of Remembrance will begin at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:15 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 905 New Road, Wilmington, DE 19805. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to the Women's Club of the Keenwiks, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 899, Selbyville, DE 19975.
