Elizabeth Schmidt Obituary
She was born on August 11, 1951 in Shoals, Indiana to George Hosking and Ida (Risher) Blalock. Irene is survived by daughters, Kendra Schmidt, Cynthia Moye (A.J.) and Danielle Gaylor (Nick); grandchildren, Julien, Jace, Bella, Elisha, Lola and Solana; and her daughters' father, Dan Schmidt; plus many bonus children. She was preceded in passing by her parents; step-father, Sam Blalock; sister, Janice Bell; and her partner of twenty-one years, Gene Wilson.
She was a 1969 graduate of Shoals High School.
Irene was employed by the City of Indianapolis as a Secretary with the Division of Weights and Measures for several years.
In High School, Irene was a Majorette and a member of FFA where she won many awards at the Indiana State Fair. She was an avid Colts and Packers fan.
A Visitation for family and friends to share memories of Irene, will be held on Sunday, December 21st, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin.
