Elizabeth Senter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Bucksport on Dec. 30, 2025.
Bucksport- Elizabeth 'Liz' Ella Astbury Byard Senter passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 25, 1931, in a farmhouse in Sedgwick, Maine, the eldest daughter of Robert and Kathleen (Condon) Astbury.
A dedicated member of her community, Liz belonged to the North Bucksport Methodist Church for many years, where she lent her voice to the choir and helped organize church suppers. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Club. Liz had a profound love for nature; she cherished her gardens and eagerly anticipated the spring bloom. She enjoyed spending warm afternoons on her deck, watching her beloved birds, especially the cardinals.
Liz was preceded in death by her two devoted husbands, Berwin Byard and later John Senter Jr. She was also predeceased by her brother, Dale Astbury; her sisters, Josephine Merrill and Thelma Astbury; her brothers-in-law, Wayne Astbury and Richard Merrill; and her cherished grandson, Brandon Cossette.
She is survived by a loving family including her son Robert Senter and his wife Julie, grandchildren Devin Gabe, Alex and Autumn; Daughter Stephanie Cossette and her husband Ed, grandson Adam his wife Rachel and great-grand daughter Collins; Daughter April Giard and her husband Joesph, grandson Michael and his wife Kylie; Daughter Jody Sylvia and her husband Stephen, grandchildren Devin Elizabeth and Cameron; She also left behind many special nieces and nephews who were dear to her.
Nannie and Grampa John found immense joy in their eight grandchildren, always striving to attend activities to support them. Nannie enjoyed baking, telling stories, and would frequently call or video chat her grandchildren to hear about their daily lives. She lovingly taught each of her grandchildren the tradition of making a holiday wreath, a practice that will continue as a lasting legacy. Liz treasured her family and the time spent with those she loved, always making sure she was a part of the action.
A graveside ceremony will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local animal shelter or food bank. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services Bucksport. mitchelltweedie-young.com
