Elizabeth Jenkins "Beth" Swearngin

Elizabeth "Beth" Jenkins Swearngin, 82, passed away on October 16, 2025 in Ogden, Utah. Beth was born to Merrill and Theresa Jenkins in Sheridan, Wyoming in April 28,1943. From a young age, she embodied kindness, resilience, and compassion-qualities that defined her life and legacy.
On April 7, 1962, Beth married the love of her life, James "Jim" Swearngin. Their marriage was built on love and lasting commitment. Together, they raised three children-Sherry, Theresa, and David-creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and deep family bonds.
Beth dedicated her professional life to healthcare, working with Intermountain Health Care and serving as President of the Utah Chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants. Later, she inspired future healthcare professionals as an instructor at Ogden ACT, sharing her expertise and passion for service.
Her commitment to the community was equally strong. Beth served as Treasurer of the Community United Methodist Church, was an active member of the Quilt Guild, and volunteered at McKay Dee Surgical Center. Her generosity, vibrant spirit, and "can-do" attitude left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Beth found joy in both adventure and creativity. In her younger years, she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family. Later, she embraced painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, and caring for wild birds. Her radiant smile and gentle nature made her beloved by many.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim; daughters Sherry (John Burke) and Theresa (Annette Day); son David (Jeannette); her sister Linda Gorman (Rich Johnson); grandchildren Vance Trujillo, Skyler Swearngin (Kellie), and Katelynn Swearngin, Lara Burke, and Tonya Burke Jenott (Andy); six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to McPaws Animal Shelter in McCall, Idaho (www.mcpaws.org).
