Elizabeth Spake Upton, 90, a cherished member of her community and a beloved friend to many, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at Peak Resources of Cherryville. Born on April 14, 1934, in Cleveland County, Elizabeth enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Textile Secretary before embracing retirement and dedicating her time to her passions.
Elizabeth's love for animals was well-known; she cherished both dogs and cats throughout her life, finding joy and companionship in their presence. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond her fur friends, as she built lasting relationships with those around her.
She is survived by her loving sister, Joyce Spake, who resides in San Francisco, CA, as well as close friends Bill and Kathy Dixon, Rachel Dixon, and Wendy Willis. These individuals surrounded her in her final moments, showcasing the deep bonds formed through years of friendship and support.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Max Upton, along with her parents, Shellie Spake and Lila Gamble Spake. The love and memories shared with her family and friends will forever be treasured.
In remembering Elizabeth, we celebrate a life dedicated to connection, compassion, and an unwavering love for all creatures. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Services for Mrs. Upton are as follows: The family and friends will have a visitation on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm at Cleveland Funeral Service and Crematory, followed by burial at Cleveland Memorial Park.
