Elizabeth Faye Pearce Wright, 89, peacefully passed away on December 14, 2025 at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC after a period of declining health.
She was born on September 29, 1936 in Franklin County, NC to the late Elbert Lawrence Pearce and Dorothy Richards Pearce. On March 12, 1966 she married James Fredrick Wright of Burlington, NC. They enjoyed 32 years of marriage until Fred's death in 1998.
Faye graduated from Wakelon High School in Zebulon, NC and East Carolina University where she majored in Elementary Education. She was inspired to be a teacher by her grandfather who taught in a one room schoolhouse. As Fred's job in textiles took the family to several small towns in NC, she was able to follow her passion for teaching for 35 years in six NC school systems. The last school and the one she taught at the longest was Mount Mourne Elementary where she cherished the staff and students and made life- long friendships.
Faye always had a servant's heart and after her retirement in addition to doing things for her family, she volunteered at: the Mooresville Soup kitchen writing their thank you notes; the Christian Mission; cotaught the 4 year old Sunday School Class at First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville; was an active member of her circle at church and visited church members, neighbors and friends sharing many of her baked goodies and strawberry jam.
She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Wright Price and husband, Lane of Seneca, SC; and Jennifer Wright Peoples and her husband, Mark of Clinton, SC. Three granddaughters, Emily Price Stone and her husband Devon; Grayson Peoples and Emma Peoples. She is also survived by her brother Tony Pearce; brother-in-law, Don Wright; sister-in-law, Annette Wright McAdams (Tommy); nieces, Gwen Pearce, Lorri Morgan (Steve) and nephew James McAdams (Angie) as well as many great nieces and nephews. She also was fortunate to have many dear friends some who survive her and others who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nephews, James Thomas McAdams and Brooks Pearce; and sisters-in-law, Betty Pearce and Peggy Wright.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC, Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:30 PM. The family will greet visitors immediately following the service in the parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Capital Building Fund or Mission’s Fund at the First Presbyterian Church, 249 West McLelland Avenue, Mooresville, NC, 28115 or Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
