Ella Cheek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home - Mount Pleasant on Oct. 23, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, better known as Mawmaw, Ella Gene Cheek, 80, who went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2024. Born on July 8, 1944, in Pittsburg to John D. and Hattie Carola Harris.
Ms. Cheek exemplified the teachings of Jesus Christ through her kindness and generosity. She had a profound faith that guided her every step and inspired all who knew her. Her unwavering belief in God was a source of strength and comfort to her family, reminding us of the importance of love, forgiveness, and compassion.
Family was the heart of her life. Ms. Cheek cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a special way of making each of us feel loved and valued, often sharing stories of faith and wisdom that will stay with us forever.
Ms. Cheek was a devoted member of South Jefferson Baptist Church. Her faith was contagious, and she led by example, teaching us all to love others as Jesus loves us. Ms. Cheek owned and operated Carola's Fashions in Mount Pleasant for over 40 years. Through her business, she shared her passion for fashion and embodied the light of Jesus, inspiring her community with her generosity and spirit.
Ms. Cheek leaves behind a legacy of faith and family. She is survived by her sons, Tim Cheek and wife, Sivi, Chris Cheek and wife, Le-Anna, and James Cheek and wife, Haley; her grandchildren, Brett Cheek and wife, Keilani, Niki Davis and husband, Jeremy, Brookelyn Shaw and husband, Dylan, Blakely Cheek, Ashleigh Cheek, Ali Fair Cheek, Dylan Cheek, Breleigh Warlick, and Addison Warlick; her great-grandchildren, Kynlie and Kambrie Cheek, Koley and Kade Shaw, brother, John Harris; and niece, Amy Hensley, and husband, Tom; as well as countless family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Don Harris, and sister-in-law, Faye Harris.
We take comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of her Savior, rejoicing in the heavenly home she so deeply believed in. As we celebrate her life, let us carry forward her love for Jesus and her passion for family, holding tight to the memories we shared.
Pallbearers will be Brett Cheek, Braden Spigener, Jeremy Davis, Dylan Shaw, Eddie Parrot, Chad Marshall, and Ricky Chamness - honorary.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at South Jefferson Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg. A visitation with the family will take place prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m. at the church.
