Obituary for
Ella Grace Leary
Clinton-Ella Grace (Fortugno) Leary, 96, passed peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Corcoran House in Clinton. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gerald T. Leary. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Ely & husband Richard of Clinton; two grandchildren, Ryan Mills of San Diego, CA; and Samantha Bradway & husband Taylor of Lancaster; two great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Bradway and Lincoln Bradway; generations of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, Mary Innamorati, Rita Zelent, Alphonsus, Pasquale, and Guy Fortugno.
Ella was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Archangelo & Francesca (Corbosiero) Fortugno. She attended local schools and graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1943. She spent many years as a cafeteria worker and crossing guard for both St. John's Elementary School and the Clinton Public School System. After retiring, she cherished her mornings with toddlers as an assistant in the Head Start pre-school program and afternoons as a volunteer with the Clinton Senior Center. A woman of great faith, she was a life member of St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish and long-time member of St. Gabriel's Society and the Clinton Women's Club. Known for her abundant talents in arts, crafts, knitting, and crochet, it was perhaps her cooking and baking that were most legendary, notably her famous pasta dinners and cream puff ring. Known as "Noni" to all, she was a proponent for the little things in life that make a difference, making this world a bit brighter through her simple acts of kindness. A calling hour will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9 until 10:30AM with a Funeral Service at 10:30AM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, and burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ella Leary to: Corcoran House-Residents Fund, 40 Walnut St., Clinton, MA 01510. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
