Ella Winona Rempfer, 94, of Gwinner died September 12, 2024, at her daughter's home while under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday September 18th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gwinner, North Dakota. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Monango. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM preceding the service. Ella's service will be live streamed here.
Ella was born November 23, 1929, at home in Dickey County, to Alma and Herman Haussler. She attended eight years of grade school at Hamburg #2, a country school, and graduated from Monango High School in 1947. She then attended the State Normal and Industrial School in Ellendale, North Dakota for six weeks, obtaining her teacher's certificate. Ellas taught country school for one year.
Ella married Jacob Rempfer on June 13, 1948. During their marriage of 50 years, they lived in several North Dakota towns before settling in Gwinner. She stayed home to raise her three children and then worked as a school cook and later 23 years at the Gwinner Tastee-Freeze, five of those as owner with Jake.
Ella was an avid sports fan. She was a member of the 1945 Monango girls state champion basketball team. She enjoyed bowling and watching the Minnesota Twins and North Dakota State University football.
Ella is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Chris) Tesar, Sumner, WA, and Dawn (Harvey) Kruckenberg of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren Micaela (Derek) Strittmatter, Parker (Erin) Kruckenberg, Tanya Longoria and Jordan Tesar; seven great grandchildren Beck, Talia, and Willa Strittmatter, Addison and Shae Kruckenberg, and Tess and Gray Longoria. She is also survived by her sister Betty Bollinger and brother Don (Gayle) Haussler.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, son Michael, brothers George and Lou, and sister Norma.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Hospice of Red River Valley and Zion Lutheran Church.
