Ellen Jones Berry

Ellen Jones Berry, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on February 17, 1939, in Morris Township, NJ, Ellen's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds.

Throughout her life, Ellen was a devoted Christian, her faith guiding her every step and inspiring those around her. Her unwavering belief was the cornerstone of her existence, and she lived every day with grace and gratitude.

As a homemaker, Ellen poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She was the loving matriarch who brought comfort and joy to every family gathering. Her hands were rarely still, as she found great pleasure in knitting, a hobby that not only brought her peace but also provided countless cherished keepsakes for her loved ones.

Ellen's legacy is carried on by her adoring children, Louise (Mike) Ove, Will (Catherine) Berry, and Raymond (Betty) Berry. She was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Her family was her pride and joy, and she instilled in them the values of love, compassion, and kindness.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Lewis Berry, and her dear daughter, Mary Grainger, Ellen's memory will forever be a guiding light for her family. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, yet her spirit remains a comforting presence.

Those who knew Ellen will remember her for her loving nature, her thoughtful gestures, and her generous spirit. A memorial service will be held at 12 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Wakeminister Baptist Church, 13221 Old Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11-12 PM.
