XENIA — Ellen E. Dunn, age 89 of Xenia, passed away Tuesday April 27, 2021 at the Trinity Community of Beavercreek. She was born January 4, 1932 in Olean, NY, the daughter of the late Walter L. and Anna M. (Sanford) Ziegler. Ellen was a graduate of Olean High School and the Westbrook Commercial Academy. After relocating to Ohio, she was employed as a secretary with the career education services department at Springfield-Clark County Joint Vocational School, retiring in 1992 after close to 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels while residing in New York where she sang in the choir; and a current longtime member of Mary, Help of Christians in Fairborn, where she was active with the Daughters of Isabella. An avid reader, she was a member of several area book clubs, and she also enjoyed to cross stitch. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald; two daughters, Anne (Rick) Posey of Beavercreek, Laura (Dale) Hickey of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Nick (Briana) Posey, Nate Posey, Katie Posey, Jennifer Bennett; two brothers, Bob (Ruth) Ziegler, Walt (Peggy) Ziegler; sister, Mary (Don) Layton; in-law, Joyce Ziegler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday May 3, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Mary, Help of Christians Church, 954 N. Maple Ave., Fairborn, Father Thomas Nevels Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton, 115 West Riverview Ave., Dayton, OH 45405 -or- www.daytonhabitat.org.
