Ellen "Pat" Fitzgerald, 95, the beloved wife of the late Robert Fitzgerald, passed away on August 28, 2025. Born on March 8, 1930 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Gibbons and Florence Gilchrist. She resided in Milford until moving to Maplewood at Orange, CT.

Ellen was a thoughtful and kind woman whose warmth touched everyone who knew her. Her smile was her signature greeting and would light up any space she was in. Ellen worked for The Bridgeport Metal Goods MFG Co. in Bridgeport for 36 years and was also a union steward going to Washington D.C. to represent her co-workers. She found joy in simple pleasures - reading a good book, visiting with friends and dining out with family and friends. A dedicated volunteer at Milford Hospital and a consistent and generous supporter of veterans and many in need. Married to her dear Robby for 46 wonderful years, Ellen often spoke of the day they'd be reunited, and now, she rests peacefully, embraced once more by the love of her life.

Ellen is survived by her loving cousins Carol Allen, Marty and Gail Utitus; her loving friends for many years, Joan Yacobacci and Pat Paskiewich, and her friend and home care provider, Carol Craig. Ellen's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the caring aides and nurses at Maplewood at Orange, Connecticut Hospice and Hospice Cares of CT. Ellen was predeceased by her siblings: Blanche Porter, James Gilchrist and Grace Culver.

Services are to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice.
