Ellen Marie Heston Griffin passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 88. She was born on August 1, 1937 to Robert and Garland Heston.
Ellen grew up in Borger, Texas, and graduated from Borger High School in 1955. In 1957, she married Jerry Griffin, and together they built their life and family in Fort Worth. They welcomed their daughter, Anna, in 1960, and their son, Robert, in 1973. Although Ellen and Jerry later divorced, they remained close throughout the years and continued to care deeply for one another until Jerry’s passing in 2020.
Ellen spent more than 40 years working in the banking industry, where she built lasting relationships and was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Family meant everything to Ellen. As the oldest of four daughters, she took her role as big sister very seriously - something her sisters might have lovingly described as a little “bossy” from time to time. She carried that sense of responsibility throughout her life, always looking out for the people she loved. Her sister Anita was also her closest friend. Even when distance separated them, they spoke every day for many years, staying closely connected until their health made those calls more difficult.
Ellen was a devout Christian who loved the Lord deeply. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a dedicated member of Ridglea West Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
More than anything, Ellen loved her family. She took great pride in each of them and found joy in even the smallest accomplishments. She was always ready to share stories about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she beamed with pride whenever she spoke about them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Garland, her sisters, Anita, LaVania, and Treva, and her former husband, Jerry.
Ellen leaves behind a family who loved her dearly: her children, Anna and Robert; her grandchildren, Chris, Nikki, Michelle, Emma, and Wyatt; her great-grandchildren, Arritt, Cayden, Promise, and Kayleigh; and her brother, Randy Heston.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home in Borger, Texas, with graveside services following at 11:00 a.m. at Lieb Cemetery in Stinnett, Texas.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that Ellen’s strong faith carried her home to the Lord. She now rests in His presence, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
