Terry Lavelle Brooks, lovingly known as “T-Row” to his friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Borger, Texas, on February 18, 2026, at the age of 70.
Terry was born November 14, 1955, in Littlefield, Texas. In 1981, he made Borger his home, where he built a life rooted in hard work, friendship, and the things he loved most. Terry dedicated 30 years of service as a machinist at Phillips 66, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, Terry truly came alive in the simple joys of life. He was an avid guitar player with a deep love for good music. Whether strumming familiar tunes or simply listening, music was part of who he was. He enjoyed spending time at the gun range, hunting arrowheads, and being outdoors whenever he could. Nature brought him peace, and he found happiness in its quiet treasures.
Terry had a special place in his heart for animals – especially his beloved dog, Punkin, who was truly his best friend. Their bond was unbreakable, and her presence brought him comfort and companionship. He was preceded in death by his cherished dog, Punkin; son, Bruce Neil Brooks; and his precious granddaughter, Madison Mangum.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Jennifer Mangum, and her fiancé, Doug Cox, of Borger; his grandson, Mason Mangum, also of Borger; and his sister, Sherrie McCall of Houston, Texas.
Terry will be remembered for his love of music, the outdoors, his loyal heart, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. Those who knew him knew a man who valued family, friendship, and the simple pleasures that make life meaningful, with quite the stubborn streak.
His memory will live on in the songs he played and the stories he shared.
His family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
