Mrs. Lois Irene "Tiny" (VanTyle) Aldred-Brooks, age 87, of Columbus, Indiana, entered this life on October 30, 1938 in Rising Sun, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle. Lois grew up in the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Aurora, Indiana and was a 1956 graduate of the Rising Sun High School. Lois was united in marriage on June 29, 1957 to James Edward Aldred. This happy union of 18 years was blessed with three children. Lois was later united in marriage to James E. "Jim" Brooks on March 6, 1977 in Vevay, Indiana. Lois and Jim shared over 43 years of marriage together until his death on June 2, 2020. Lois was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, from 1959-1961. Lois resided in the Mt. Sterling, Indiana community before relocating to Grammer, Indiana, with her husband, Jim. She was a devoted homemaker who lovingly raised her children, treasured every moment spent with her family, and worked faithfully on the farm throughout her life, raising livestock and tending to fields of hay and grain with her husband. Lois was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Westport, Indiana. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, horseback riding, and working puzzles, word search puzzles, as well as, watching NASCAR. Lois passed away at 3:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus, Indiana. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff and nurses at Silver Oaks Health Campus for their excellent care, especially, Cody and Scott.

Lois will be missed by her daughters and son, Marla Sue Lamson and her husband, Loren, Sr. of Vevay, IN, Anita Jill Sanders and her companion, Dennis Catterton of North Vernon, IN, Dennis Brooks and his wife, Debbie of Elizabethtown, IN, and Leta Brooks of North Vernon, IN; her son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Hayes of Mt. Sterling, IN; her grandchildren, Marlena Townsend (Donovan), Angel Parr (James Michael), Loren Lamson, Jr. (Tiffany), Dorothy Weaver (Scott), Benjamin Lamson (Chalae), James Lamson, Douglas Sanders, Dustin Sanders, Alicia Lack (Shawn), Ashley Sanders, Jason Brooks (Emy), Jennifer Sahagun, and Kayla Brooks; her several great-grandchildren; her 3-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Ann Shadday of Madison, IN; her brother, Lawrence Leslie VanTyle and his wife, Shirley of Cleves, OH; her sisters-in-law, Joann Baxter of Aurora, IN, Kay Neal of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Mary Ann Haskell of Columbus, IN; her brother-in-law, Mason Uhlmansiek of Rising Sun, IN; and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle; her husbands, James Edward Aldred, died May 21, 1975, and James E. "Jim" Brooks, died June 2, 2020; her daughter, Jama Lois (Aldred) Hayes, died February 6, 2017; her grandson, James Daniel Hayes; her great-grandsons, Landon Michael and Lucas Scott Weaver; her infant sister; her brother, Elmer Nelson VanTyle; her sisters, Lutha Mae Nieman, Mavis Carole Uhlmansiek and Florence Marie Peters; and her fathers-in-law, mothers-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m, Friday, February 27, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Silver Oaks Health Campus Activities Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home or online at www.haskellandmorrison.com
