Ellen Jones-McElmeel Obituary
Ellen N. Jones-McElmeel, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by her family. A private family interment will take place at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Ellen was born March 16, 1948, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Valeta (Gintert) Wilson. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1966. Ellen was a waitress, factory worker, teacher's associate, and social worker. She was proud that she went back later in life and graduated with honors from Mt. Mercy College.
She leaves behind her husband, Steve McElmeel; daughter, Julie Giesking (Todd); granddaughter, Taylor Crumes; and great-granddaughter, Myla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dixie Dosotel.
Ellen will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her very much.
