Rita J. Rehak, 93, died on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, by Father Ken Glaser. Visitation will precede the funeral at 9:30 a.m., at the church. The rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m., immediately prior to the service. Burial at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ames, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Survivors include daughters Lisa Ernst, Gail Loskill, Janet Wilkie, Diane (Bruce) Dalton, and Sue Blome of Cedar Rapids and son John (Grace) Rehak of Omaha. Also surviving are grandchildren Mike Rehak, TJ (Brigitte) Rehak, Angie (Todd) Burton, Melanie (Shaun) Harlan, Alex (Sarah) Rehak, Evan (Mindy) Ernst, Lillie (Joey) Hoffman, Ford Loskill, Corbin Loskill, Georgia Loskill, Celia Wilkie, Regan Wilkie, Maggie Dalton, Isabelle Dalton, and Josie Dalton and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son Jim Rehak, son-in-law Dennis Blome, and siblings Elizabeth Meimann, Violet Post, Pauline Peterson, Marcella Henderson, Bernard Meimann, Carroll Meimann, Audry Meimann, Marion Meimann, Bernita Arneson, and Marjorie Henderson.
Rita was born on July 14, 1932, in McCallsburg Iowa, the daughter of Cecelia (Tagatoff) and George Meimann. She was married to Milford E. Baldus of Story City from 1962 to 1974, and Lester Rehak of Cedar Rapids from 1977 to 2005.
The focus of Rita's life was her family, including her ten siblings, children and grandchildren.
Rita had a passion for animals from her childhood on a farm, to her death. Throughout her life she loved to garden, was an exceptional seamstress and cook, and enjoyed watching birds.
