Buelane Daugherty

Alice Buelane Daugherty, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at CountryHouse Residence, Cedar Rapids. Family and friends will gather to remember Buelane from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be at a later date at Panther Creek Cemetery, in Adel, Iowa.

Survivors include her nephew, Timothy Daugherty (Christy) of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, Teri Farrand (Matt) of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Tania Daugherty of Mobile, Alabama; and a host of friends.

Buelane was born on May 10, 1937, in Willow Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Buel and Eva (Dixon) Daugherty. She moved to Adel, Iowa, as a child and graduated from Adel High School in 1955. Buelane continued her studies, earning her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Iowa in 1965 and her Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 1967. Buelane began her career as a visiting nurse in Des Moines. She began her teaching career at the University of Iowa and moved to Mount Mercy University in 1977. Later in her career Buelane transitioned to administrative duties in the Academic Dean's Office. She retired in 2008.

Buelane enjoyed international travel and will be remembered as an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Jack, Jonathon, and Phillip.
