Ellen Martin Obituary

Ellen M. Martin (nee Pridemore), age 81, of Hudson, formerly of Northfield Village, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Ellen is the beloved wife of the late William Martin Sr.; devoted mother of the late Kim Crutcher and Lori (Theo) Harasym; dear stepmother of Joyce (David, deceased) Walters, Mary (David, deceased) Kelly and the late Billy Martin; cherished grandmother of Mathew, Tina, Jamie, Carie, David, Suzanne and the late Daven; great grandmother of Jaidyn, Keegan, Joseph and Daniel; loving sister of Jess (Shelley) Pridemore, Cynita (Ron) Dodrill and the late William "Bud" (Sandra) Pridemore and George (Anita, surviving) Pridemore; dear aunt and great aunt of many.

Ellen was a firecracker with sass-never afraid to let you know exactly how she felt. She loved with passion, gave with generosity, and lived with a boldness all her own. She drove faster than Dale Earnhardt, but donated and gave of herself like a saint. Nothing could ever persuade her away from her values, her faith, or her grace.

Her love for cooking was unmatched, whether in her restaurant kitchen or at the camp clubhouse. With a skillet in hand, she created not just meals but memories-feeding people was her art and her calling from a young age. In the early 1960s, she and Bill opened Alpine Resort in Millersburg, Ohio, where they flourished for nearly 50 years. The camp was their paradise, filled with forest, creek, pond, and some of the best people they ever knew. Together, Ellen and Bill poured their hearts into it until Bill's passing in 2019 and the camp's closing in 2020.

Some of Ellen's fondest memories were made there-organizing events, cooking feasts, managing with determination, and yes, keeping everything in order with her trademark mix of love and grit.

From cracking eggs at dawn to making pies in Northfield, to serving children in school, Ellen's food always brought love and comfort to the table. Daily phone calls with her daughter Lori and her sister Cynita were treasures she held close, and the friendships she built through camp became like family.

Her family wishes to thank the healthcare aides, hospice workers, and staff at Danbury. Ellen herself was deeply grateful for the love and care she received there-it was truly a second home.

Ellen's legacy is one of strength, generosity, faith, and flavor. She lived life with passion, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Ellen's life will be held 1PM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025 in the Theater at Danbury Senior Living, 150 Omni Lake Parkway, Hudson, OH 44236.
