Ellen E. McClintick

Ellen Elizabeth McClintick (Carlson), born on November 16, 1942 in Akron, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on March 16, 2025, in Uniontown, Ohio She was the beloved wife of Ned for 58+ years, mother of David, grandmother of Allison, Alex, Anthony, and Angela Lauer (Drew), sister of Carl Carlson (Meg) and Louise Philips, and Aunt Ellen to Deneen (David), Jamie (Rod), Darla (John), and Jeff (Stacey).

Ellen was preceded in death by her father Conrad Carlson. sister Joanne Rayman, and niece Rebecca Carlson.

2 Corinthians 5:8 – We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Ellen grew up with her 2 sisters (Joanne and Louise) and brother (Carl) on Brownstone Ave with their father Conrad. They shared many adventures together and these entertaining sibling stories were spun later in life when the family got together for holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions Most often these stories would end in funny moments that would get everyone rolling in laughter and warm everyone’s hearts.

As Ellen grew and worked through high school, she graduated as a proud North Viking. After high school, Ellen went to work at General Tire while taking some college classes. After working at General Tire for several years, Ellen started attending the Chapel in Akron, and shortly after met Ned. After meeting and dating for a short time, Ned made sure Ellen didn’t get away and proposed to the love of his life. They got engaged and were married on October 1, 1966.

Shortly after marriage, Ned and Ellen moved to California for an opportunity at The Biblical Research Society, and while there had their son David on March 1, 1968. Shortly after David was born Ned and Ellen moved back to Ohio and built their first house in Uniontown and lived there for 18 years. Ned, Ellen, and David made the Chapel in Akron their home church and were very involved in many opportunities there, including Ned and Ellen teaching Sunday School for several years with 2nd and 3rd graders. Ellen also worked at Chapel Hill Christian School as the principal’s secretary for 10 years (part of the time that David attended) and loved every minute of working with the grade school students and school faculty.

Ned and Ellen also took trips to Disneyworld, California, and other memorable places in the U.S. Ellen loved to host family get togethers at her house with her siblings and their families. She loved cooking and baking and preparing delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. Many great occasions were celebrated at their home.

After David graduated from high school and started college, Ned and Ellen moved to Florida for a job change and lived there for 8 years enjoying the Florida sun and living 10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean as empty nesters living the dream!

Not wanting to be far away from their young and growing grandchildren and other family that they missed in Ohio, Ned retired in 1995, and they moved back up to Uniontown to start the next phase in their lives.

Grandchildren were a joy to Ellen as she frequently got to babysit them and spend many precious moments with them. From playing ring-around the rosies, doing puzzles, playing dolls, having tea parties out in the yard, and having occasional sleepovers, Ellen poured out her love to them. She also enjoyed spoiling them with treats like her bunny cake at Easter, hiding treats for them in her Christmas tree, and baking brownies with them, and occasionally surprising them with chocolate from the Hartville Kitchen. Ellen loved being a grandmother and spending time with her precious grandchildren.

One story that Angela (her granddaughter) shared was when Ellen had surgery to her hand. Angela came over to help take care of Ellen during her recovery while Ned was at work. Angela said that Ellen was the easiest and sweetest patient that she ever had, and that experience was one of the main experiences she had that inspired her to go into nursing and become a psychiatric nurse practitioner and join in the fight to find a cure for dementia.

Most importantly, Ellen loved the Lord and worshipping him and growing in her relationship with him alongside her beloved husband Ned. We are thankful that Ellen is now reunited with many family members and friends in heaven, released from the many problems of this world, especially health issues. All of Ellen’s family and friends are looking forward in anticipation to the day when we are reunited again in heaven.

Services will be held at The Chapel in Akron, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio in the Memorial Chapel on March 26th. Calling hours will be from 2-4. Service at 4.
