Ellen Mesa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garnand Funeral Homes - Garden City on Dec. 6, 2025.
Ellen Lee Mesa, died December 2, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on July 12, 1950, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Milton Robert and Barbara D. (Frati) Story. She married Pasquale "Lino" Mesa December 16, 1978. He preceded her in death.
Ellen's professional path as a Chemo Nurse was a testament to her enormous capacity for empathy. Her sassy nature, coupled with her experience in cosmetology, brought unexpected moments of joy and laughter in places where it was most needed. To work in the field of oncology nursing requires a special kind of person - one with the ability to face the fragility of life daily and still say, "I choose hope." Ellen was that person. She chose hope, she chose joy, and most importantly, she chose love. Her faith was her shield in her own battles against cancer, of which she emerged victorious not once but four times, a testament to her incredible strength and determination.
She was a loving daughter, loyal wife, devoted mother, yet it was in her cherished role as a grandmother where Ellen found her greatest joy. She poured her soul into her grandchildren and knew her legacy would continue through them.
She is survived by her Children-Annette McIntyre, Emily Bazan & Daniel Mesa; Grandchildren- Esperanza Fierra Salazar, Anthony Bazan, Isaiah McIntyre, and Cartez McIntyre; Great Grandchildren- Alejandra Salazar, Xiomara Salazar, Josaih Mesa and Elijah Mesa; Sister- Linda Ellsworth; Sister in Law-Clara Martinez; Brother in Law-Joe Alvarado & Fur Babies-Rudy and Spicy. In addition to her husband and her parents. She was preceded in death by her Grandson-Alejandro Mesa; Siblings- Russel Story, Melba Kester & Howard Story; Nephew -Gabriel Duran & Brothers and Sister in Law: John C. Mesa, Antonio S. Mesa and Mary Rose Mesa Morley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 10, 2025 from 12:00-8:00 pm at with a Rosary at 6:00 all at Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Thursday December 11, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Garden City with Rev. Jacob Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Yesterday

I met Ellen through her Mom Barbara who was friends with my Mom Ventura. I had recently reached out to Ellen on FB messenger, she remembered me and my siblings. The memories I have of her are wonderful.
My condolences to all who love and miss her already!
